'Kush' cannabis worth Rs. 320 million found inside luggage abandoned at BIA
· Sri Lanka
Customs officers and airport security officials at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake seized a massive consignment of high-grade 'Kush' cannabis valued at approximately Rs. 320 million.
The narcotics were detected early Tuesday morning concealed inside an unclaimed piece of baggage left unattended in the vicinity of Baggage Belt No. 06 in the arrival terminal.
Following routine baggage screening checks that raised suspicion, customs officers inspected the luggage and uncovered densely packed parcels containing the contraband.
Authorities have commenced a comprehensive review of airline passenger manifests, flight origin tracking, and terminal CCTV surveillance recordings to identify the passenger who transported the illicit shipment into Sri Lanka.
