Heavy rainfall expected in parts of the island today
· Sri Lanka
The Department of Meteorology reported that a low-level atmospheric disturbance continues to linger in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, leading to unstable weather patterns across the island.
Under the influence of this weather system, predominantly overcast skies and recurrent showers or thundershowers are forecast throughout the day across most administrative districts.
Certain locations within south-western and central catchment areas are projected to receive heavy downpours, with potential for localized urban flooding and disruption to morning transit routines.
The public has been requested to take appropriate measures to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning strikes during thundershowers.
