Construction begins on new four-storey medical ward complex at Mullaitivu Hospital

The construction of a four-storey medical ward complex at the District General Hospital in Mullaitivu was inaugurated under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake [1.1]. The ceremony was attended by regional administrators, healthcare professionals, and government dignitaries.

The new facility is planned to expand the hospital's capacity by introducing modern clinical wards, specialized patient treatment units, and updated diagnostic infrastructure designed to alleviate current congestion at the regional hospital.

Health authorities noted that the initiative forms part of a broader government drive to upgrade provincial hospital infrastructure across the Northern and Eastern provinces, ensuring equitable access to advanced medical services for rural communities.
