13-Year-Old Yu Zidi Storms to Asian Games Gold in Record-Breaking Swim

Just 13 years old, China’s Yu Zidi has already become an Asian Games champion after winning the women’s 200m butterfly gold in record-breaking fashion.

Yu clocked 2:05.08, breaking the Asian Games record by nearly half a second and finishing more than three seconds ahead of compatriot Chang Mohan.

Despite the impressive performance and a new Games record, Yu gave a surprisingly understated verdict on her swim, describing it as “only so-so.”

The young Chinese swimmer is already being closely watched as one of the rising talents in international swimming, with attention turning towards the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

At just 13, Yu’s Asian Games triumph marks another major milestone in what could be a promising international career.
