Young Star Nuyara Fernando Carries Sri Lankan Flag at Asian Games Opening

Sixteen-year-old artistic gymnast Nuyara Fernando had the honour of carrying the Sri Lankan flag at the opening ceremony of the 20th Asian Games in Japan on September 19.

Fernando was the youngest athlete in Sri Lanka’s 156-member contingent at the Games.

She had previously represented Sri Lanka at the Commonwealth Games, gaining valuable international experience and showcasing her talent on the sporting stage.

A student of Lyceum International School, Nugegoda, Fernando’s role as flag bearer marked a special milestone in her young sporting career as she led Sri Lanka’s contingent at the opening ceremony.
