Ananda College Crowned Overall Champions at Third Archery Battle of the Maroons

Ananda College emerged as the Overall Champions at the Third Archery Battle of the Maroons, held against Nalanda College on September 11 at the Ananda College Rugby Ground in Rajagiriya.

The competition brought together young archers from both schools, with principals, teachers, students and parents gathering to witness a display of skill, discipline and sportsmanship.

Ananda College produced a series of strong individual performances across several age categories. In the Under-10 event, Mihin Randira secured first place, while Yenuka Dulmitha finished second.

In the Under-12 category, Rithika Basnayake claimed first place, followed by Lokitha Dias in second and Oshan Ahangama in third. Dinula Gamage won the Under-14 event, with Theertha Weerarathne finishing second. In the Under-20 individual event, Chetthaan Ruberu secured second place.

Ananda College also recorded notable results in the team events. The Under-14 team of Dinula Gamage, Theertha Weerarathne and Vidura Karunasena finished first, while the second-place team comprised Rithika Basnayake, Vihen Muthukumarana and Ruhath Rajakaruna.

In the Under-18 category, Chetthaan Ruberu, Dhisas Ranasingha and Sethun Sanvidu secured second place, while Sanuka Basnayake, Senul Kuruppu and Chenula Disanath finished third.

The Ananda College Under-20 team of Chetthaan Ruberu, Dhisas Ranasingha and Janin Perera also secured third place.

The Ananda College archery team was led by Chetthaan Ruberu and coached by Peshala Kalansooriya, with Thusantha Kumari and Sanduni Ranathunga serving as teachers-in-charge.

The strong performances reflected the dedication of the young archers, coaching staff, teachers and supporters, adding another memorable chapter to the sporting rivalry between Ananda College and Nalanda College.
