Three held for murdering cab driver, stealing car on Hyderabad-Mumbai route

Three persons have been arrested by the Cyberabad Police in connection with the murder of a cab driver and the subsequent theft of his car near Rudraram on NH-65 in Sangareddy district.

The deceased, Nelamarri Rajashekhar, was murdered around 4 a.m. on September 11 near an under-construction road overbridge on the outskirts of Rudraram village. His car, bearing registration number TG 09 T 4759, was stolen by the accused.

The arrested persons have been identified as Ghodake Rahul (28) Suraj Shashikanth Tawade (29) and Bamble Raju Ramachandra (33) all residents of Maharashtra. Two other accused in the case are absconding.

According to the police, the accused had hired Rajashekhar’s cab near the Swimming Pool Bus Stop beside the Task Force Office on SP Road in Secunderabad during the intervening night of September 10 and 11. They told him that they wanted to travel towards Mumbai. After reaching an isolated stretch near Rudraram, the accused attacked and strangled the driver with a towel. They then dumped his body near the under-construction ROB and fled towards Mumbai in his car, the police said.

The vehicle developed a mechanical problem near Kohir, following which the accused abandoned it near Golden Dhaba and proceeded towards Zaheerabad. The abandoned car and other relevant material were secured, following which the three accused were traced and apprehended.

The Patancheru police initially registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder. During the investigation, sections pertaining to dacoity and criminal conspiracy were added, and the case was altered to Sections 310, 103(1), 61(2) read with 3(5) of the BNS.
