Sri Lankan Designer Kamil Hewavitharana Makes History at Moscow Fashion Week

Sri Lankan fashion designer Kamil Hewavitharana has made history by becoming the first designer from Sri Lanka selected to showcase at Moscow Fashion Week, marking a significant milestone for the country’s fashion industry.

Hewavitharana joined designers representing 20 countries, including India, the United States, China and South Africa, bringing a distinctive Sri Lankan perspective to the international runway.

His collection highlighted Sri Lanka’s creative identity and design talent, offering an opportunity to showcase the country’s fashion capabilities on a global platform alongside designers from diverse cultural and creative backgrounds.

The milestone also reflects the importance of international collaboration in creating opportunities for Sri Lankan designers to expand their reach, build global connections and engage with new fashion markets.

The participation forms part of Colombo Fashion Week’s long-standing commitment to fostering international partnerships and providing local designers with opportunities to showcase their work beyond Sri Lanka.
