Shashi Weerawansa's case to be called again on October 12

The Colombo Magistrate's Court ordered today that the case involving Shashi Weerawansa, wife of former Cabinet Minister Wimal Weerawansa, be called for further hearing on October 12.

Weerawansa was previously convicted and handed a custodial sentence after being found guilty of submitting forged documents to obtain a Sri Lankan diplomatic passport under false pretenses.

During today's court session, the magistrate considered motions and updates connected to ongoing legal appeals and status reports submitted by legal counsel representing both the defense and the prosecution.

The magistrate fixed the upcoming October hearing to consider outstanding legal matters and evaluate the continuity of the judicial proceedings in accordance with relevant criminal procedure rules.
