Police uncover more details on seizure of over 21kg of 'Ice' in Matara

Sri Lanka Police have revealed fresh information regarding the high-profile raid conducted in the Matara area, which resulted in the confiscation of more than 21 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, commonly referred to as 'Ice'.

The operation led to the apprehension of a woman and a male suspect who were found in possession of the contraband, which carries an estimated street value reaching hundreds of millions of rupees.

Subsequent interrogations and forensic inquiries have revealed links connecting the suspects to well-organized transnational drug trafficking syndicates operating along the southern coastal belt.

Police and specialized narcotics control units have intensified cordon-and-search operations across neighboring localities to trace financial transactions, vehicles, and accomplices involved in the distribution network.
