Civil Intelligence Front Complains to President Over Alleged Misuse of Nearly US$7 Million Investment

The Civil Intelligence Front has submitted a complaint to the President regarding what it alleges was the misuse of several million dollars in investment funds brought into Sri Lanka during previous governments.

The organisation has called on the President to investigate the alleged irregularities relating to investments involving the son of former minister Rohitha Bogollagama.

Chairman of the Civil Intelligence Front, Sanjaya Mahawatta, accompanied by a group of lawyers, visited the Presidential Secretariat today and informed the President of the allegations. Following the meeting, they spoke to the media regarding the matter.

Mahawatta said the organisation had brought to the President’s attention an alleged misuse of nearly US$7 million in foreign direct investment.

According to the Civil Intelligence Front, the funds had been sent to Sri Lanka through the Board of Investment (BOI) by two Singaporean investors.

Mahawatta alleged that the investment was brought into the country through a private company established under the name of Dhakshitha Bogollagama, the son of Rohitha Bogollagama.

He further alleged that, after a period of time, the Singaporean investors were misled and an attempt was made to use the funds independently.

The Civil Intelligence Front also alleged that investments had subsequently been made in approximately six hotels using the funds in question.

Mahawatta said the organisation had informed the President of these allegations and requested that a formal investigation be conducted into the matter.
