Over 21kg of ICE recovered in Matara raid; Duo arrested

Sri Lanka Police recovered over 21 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine ('Ice') during a special intelligence-led search operation conducted at a private residence in Walgama, Matara. The discovery represents one of the significant narcotics seizures reported in the Southern Province in recent weeks.

Two individuals present inside the premises were arrested on the spot by police officers. Authorities suspect that the consignment of crystal methamphetamine was intended for regional distribution across southern coastal towns.

Following the arrests, police teams began interrogating the suspects to trace the origin of the contraband and identify other individuals involved in the distribution ring. The suspects are scheduled to be produced before the relevant Magistrate's Court under narcotics trafficking charges.
