Large tree falls near Kandy Railway Station, two vehicles damaged

Heavy winds and saturated soil conditions caused a large tree adjacent to the Kandy Railway Station to collapse onto the main roadway, crushing two vehicles that were travelling through the area.

Although the vehicles sustained significant structural damage, no immediate fatalities were reported, and occupants were assisted by bystanders and municipal emergency teams responding at the scene.

Road maintenance teams and local police swiftly cordoned off the section, employing chain saws and heavy equipment to remove the fallen branches and reopen the busy thoroughfare to traffic.
