Over 10 Hospitalised After Eight-Vehicle Crash on Southern Expressway

More than 10 people, including schoolchildren, were hospitalised following a multi-vehicle collision involving eight vehicles on the Southern Expressway this morning (September 21).

The pile-up occurred between the Gelanigama and Dodangoda interchanges after a bus travelling towards Colombo collided with several other vehicles, triggering a chain-reaction crash.

Expressway Police and emergency response teams attended the scene and transported the injured to hospital while working to clear the damaged vehicles and ease traffic congestion.

Motorists travelling on the Southern Expressway have been urged to exercise extra caution, maintain a safe braking distance and adjust their driving to the wet road conditions.
