Niroshan Dickwella Set for International Return After Three Years

Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter Niroshan Dickwella is set to make his international return after a three-year absence, having been named in Sri Lanka’s squad for the first Test against India in Galle.

Dickwella, who last represented Sri Lanka in international cricket in 2023, has been selected as the team’s wicketkeeper for the Test, scheduled to begin on August 15 at the Galle International Cricket Stadium.

The return marks a significant moment in the experienced wicketkeeper’s career. Dickwella has previously established himself as a regular member of Sri Lanka’s Test side and brings considerable international experience to the squad.

The 33-year-old has played 54 Tests, scoring 2,757 runs, including 22 half-centuries, while also contributing behind the stumps.

His inclusion adds experience to a Sri Lankan side preparing to face India in what promises to be a highly anticipated Test series.

After three years away from international cricket, Dickwella will now have an opportunity to make his return on home soil in Galle and once again play a role for Sri Lanka at the highest level.
