Colombo Serendib Round Table 2 Celebrates 30 Years of Impactful Community Service and Fellowship

Colombo Serendib Round Table 2 (CSRT2), a prominent and highly active chapter of Round Table Sri Lanka (RTSL), proudly announces the celebration of its 30th anniversary. Over the past three decades, CSRT2 has remained steadfast in its core commitment to fostering fellowship, driving community empowerment and leading large-scale charitable initiatives, fully embodying the global Round Table motto to “Adopt, Adapt, Improve”.

CSRT2 has spearheaded numerous transformative community projects that have left an indelible mark on society. Most notably, in the devastating aftermath of the Boxing Day tsunami, CSRT2 played a vital role alongside Round Table Sri Lanka in raising over USD

2 million from chapters worldwide. These funds were strategically directed toward rebuilding affected schools, restoring educational infrastructure and providing a sense of normalcy and hope for thousands of children during one of the nation’s most challenging periods.

Another landmark achievement in CSRT2’s philanthropic journey is the highly successful “From the Heart” project, an initiative specifically dedicated to facilitating life-saving pediatric heart surgeries. Through this program, over 25 complex heart surgeries were performed for children in need, free of charge. This monumental effort was made possible through the selfless medical expertise and dedication of Dr. M. M. Lahie, operating in close partnership with the international charity Gift of Life and Asiri Surgical Hospital Pvt Ltd.

As CSRT2 reflects on 30 years of service, this significant milestone serves as both a celebration of past achievements and a firm recommitment to future endeavors. The organization will continue to focus on sustainable development, educational empowerment, and bringing together young men determined to create a lasting, positive impact across Sri Lanka.

Looking ahead, CSRT2 continues to explore new ways of creating meaningful and sustainable community impact. This year, the organisation has initiated a small project to support differently-abled students with university education and living expenses.

CSRT2 is also exploring a mentorship programme for teenagers in orphanages who will transition out at 18, with the aim of helping them prepare for life beyond the orphanage through guidance on their interests, careers and future opportunities. The initiative is currently in the planning stage.

Fundraising will remain an important part of CSRT2’s efforts, with the organisation preparing to host its third Halloween fundraising event.
