Underworld figure 'Loku Patty's brother critically injured in shooting

The younger brother of prominent organized crime figure 'Loku Patty' was critically injured following a targeted shooting that occurred in the Welikanda area of Ahungalla. The incident caused severe panic in the neighborhood as gunshots rang out in broad daylight.

Preliminary police inquiries revealed that the assailants, who arrived on a motorcycle, ambushed the victim and fired several rounds from a firearm before speeding away. Nearby residents and first responders assisted in transporting the victim to the nearest hospital in critical condition.

A senior police officer stated that initial indicators strongly point toward an underworld turf war over narcotics distribution routes and southern regional extortion networks. The southern coastal belt has witnessed sporadic eruptions of armed violence tied to criminal networks operating remotely from foreign hideouts.

Ahungalla Police and specialized criminal investigation squads have established multiple roadblocks and deployed patrol teams across adjacent escape routes. Authorities are taking steps to record statements from eyewitnesses and trace the weapon used in the ambush.
