Suresh Sallay's heart condition disclosed in Fort Magistrate's Court

The Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court was officially apprised of the medical status of Major General (Retd.) Suresh Sallay, the former Director of the State Intelligence Service (SIS), who is currently hospitalized at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka.

Defense counsel submitted medical certifications indicating that Sallay has developed cardiomegaly, commonly known as an enlarged heart, necessitating surgical intervention to implant a specialized cardiac device to stabilize his circulatory functions.

The court was informed that Sallay requires continuous inpatient observation and specialized therapeutic care, restricting his immediate physical availability for extended legal appearances.

After examining the hospital records, the magistrate instructed judicial authorities to monitor the defendant's medical progress and requested periodic health evaluation reports from the treating medical board.
