· Sri Lanka
Representing Sri Lanka at the King Abdulaziz International Quran Memorization Competition in Saudi Arabia, Muhammad Imdad Iyas Muhammad secured third place among 334 competitors from 133 countries, bringing international recognition and pride to Sri Lanka.
The achievement is particularly significant as it was accomplished by a young Sri Lankan from a country where Arabic is not a native language. Competing alongside skilled Quran memorizers from around the world, he secured third place in the men’s category for memorizing five consecutive sections of the Quran with accurate recitation. For this achievement, he received a prize of SAR 55,000, equivalent to approximately Rs. 4.9 million.
This accomplishment is more than simply a position achieved in an international competition. It is a remarkable demonstration of the talent, dedication, determination and perseverance of Sri Lanka’s younger generation on an international stage. Competing against talented participants from across the world and achieving such a significant result is a powerful reminder that Sri Lankan children have the ability to develop their talents and demonstrate their capabilities at the highest international levels.
