Sri Lanka among top global improvers in Investor Relations and Debt Transparency
· Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka has emerged as one of the fastest movers in the 2026 Investor Relations and Debt Transparency Assessment conducted by the Institute of International Finance (IIF), recording one of the largest score gains worldwide.
According to the report, Sri Lanka’s Investor Relations Country Score rose by 6.3 points, placing it among the top performers alongside Vietnam, Belize, and Mozambique.
The improvement reflects the impact of the country’s formal Investor Relations Program, launched in December 2024 under the Ministry of Finance, which has strengthened communication with international investors.
Sri Lanka also posted notable advances in sub‑indices:
The IIF noted that more than half of the countries assessed in 2026 strengthened debt transparency practices, with Sri Lanka among the most significant gainers.
The report emphasized that clear and predictable disclosure helps reduce the “uncertainty premium” in borrowing costs, reinforcing investor confidence even during periods of global financial stress.
Sri Lanka’s climb underscores the growing recognition of investor relations as a strategic tool. By publishing timely fiscal, debt, and policy information, the country has positioned itself to deepen investor trust, broaden its funding base, and maintain access to international capital markets.
