Special security at Aluthkade Courts as long-awaited 2019 Easter Sunday attacks verdict due today

Special security measures have been deployed around the Aluthkade Courts Complex in Colombo as the long-awaited verdict in the case related to the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks is scheduled to be delivered today (22).

Police, along with special task force personnel, have established tight security perimeters, checkpoints, and restricted access zones surrounding the court complex to ensure safety during the high-profile court session.

The case, heard before a special trial-at-bar, involves multiple defendants charged in connection with conspiracy, abetting, and failing to prevent the coordinated bombings that devastated churches and luxury hotels across Sri Lanka in April 2019.

Legal observers and relatives of the victims have gathered near the judicial complex awaiting the bench's landmark decision, which follows years of testimonies, evidence examination, and high-profile submissions.
