Sonal Dinusha Named ICC Men’s Player Of The Month For August
· Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka batter Sonal Dinusha has been named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for August 2026, following a remarkable run of form in the home Test series against India.
Dinusha scored 420 runs at an average of 140.00 across the two-Test series, including three centuries and a half-century. His scores were 100 and 84 in Galle, followed by 103 and an unbeaten 133 in Colombo.
His unbeaten 133 in the second Test helped Sri Lanka secure a draw after the team had been asked to follow on. The performance also made Dinusha only the third batter in Test history to score centuries in both innings after his team was forced to follow on.
The award is the first ICC Player of the Month honour of Dinusha’s career and comes after only five international Test appearances. He was selected ahead of England fast bowler Ollie Robinson and Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud, who were also shortlisted for the August award.
The 25-year-old left-hander’s performances against India have marked a significant early milestone in his international career, earning him recognition from the ICC for his outstanding month with the bat.
