Rain and Thunderstorms Expected Across Several Provinces as Low-Pressure System Moves Away

Merril Mendis, Director of the Forecasting Division of the Department of Meteorology, said intermittent rain or thundershowers were expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northern and North Western provinces, as well as in the Anuradhapura and Galle districts.

Other parts of the country may experience rain or thundershowers after 1.00 p.m., he said.

Some areas could receive fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 millimetres.

The Department advised the public to take precautions to minimise accidents caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may accompany thundershowers.
