1,000-Unit Port View Residencies Housing Project Launched in Grandpass

The Government has officially launched the 1,000-unit Port View Residencies housing complex in Grandpass, Colombo, with the first 250 families moving into their new homes.

The housing project, which commenced in 2020, was initially estimated to cost approximately Rs. 5.95 billion.

However, the project experienced a delay of around 30 months, resulting in the final cost increasing to nearly Rs. 10 billion, Minister Bimal Rathnayake said.

The Port View Residencies project is intended to provide permanent housing facilities for families in the Colombo area, with the newly completed complex adding 1,000 housing units to the city’s residential infrastructure.

The initial relocation of 250 families marks the first phase of occupancy, while the remaining units are expected to be allocated as the project progresses.

The launch represents the completion of a major public housing development that faced significant delays and cost increases during its implementation.
