· Australia
A police operation is underway in Sydney’s Inner West after a serious stabbing incident. A woman stabbed a 48-year-old man in the hand triggering a lockdown of the area about 11.40am on Monday. The man has been treated for the serious injuries and taken to hospital in a stable condition. King St is currently closed in both directions at Newtown.
Northbound traffic is being diverted via Wilson St, and southbound traffic is being diverted via Missenden Rd, according to Live Traffic NSW. Buses are also diverting away from the area. Police searching the area found a 27-year-old woman allegedly armed with a knife. “Police directed the woman to drop the knife; however, when she allegedly failed to follow the police direction a Taser was used and she was arrested,” NSW Police said. “The woman has been taken to Newtown Police Station where inquiries are ongoing.” King St, between Church St and Wilson St, remains closed to the public. Investigations are ongoing.
