People’s Bank rewards children of migrant workers

People’s Bank has launched the ‘People’s Remittance – Doodaru Pranama’ promotional campaign to reward children of Sri Lankan overseas workers and encourage savings for their education and future.

Under the campaign, children who open an Ethera Udana Personal Foreign Currency Minors’ Savings Account and receive remittances through People’s Remittance between October 1 and December 31 will qualify for a draw to win an Ethera Udana school stationery pack valued at Rs. 5,000.

The bank said the campaign recognised the contribution of migrant workers and encouraged families to channel remittances towards their children’s financial security.

Customers receiving workers’ remittances directly through People’s Bank can also enter the ‘People’s Remittance Vaasi Kotiya 2026’ draw, which offers weekly cash prizes of Rs. 100,000. The ‘Dolosmahe Vaasi Chakraya’ provides further opportunities to win prizes throughout the year.

The Ethera Udana account allows parents working overseas to save in foreign currency for their children’s education and other future needs. Benefits include additional interest based on account balances, an exemption of up to Rs. 100,000 towards a child’s first air ticket for higher education overseas, and cash awards for outstanding G.C.E. O/L and A/L results.

The account also offers educational insurance and other banking concessions, the bank said.
