The Andhra Pradesh government called for collective responsibility and large-scale public participation in energy and water conservation, renewable energy adoption and environmental protection to mitigate the impact of super El Niño and climate change.

Reaffirming the State’s commitment to environmental stewardship and the protection of natural resources, K. Vijayanand, Special Chief Secretary (Energy), called for a nationwide movement towards energy efficiency, water conservation and sustainable development.

Given the effects of extreme climatic conditions on agriculture, industry, energy demand and the overall economy, every citizen should make energy and water conservation an integral part of daily life, he said in an online interaction with Akhilesh Kumar Dixit, CEO of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL).

Recognising Andhra Pradesh as a proactive State in energy efficiency, renewable energy and technology adoption, Mr. Dixit briefed Mr. Vijayanand on recent national and international developments and the need to strengthen preparedness against climate-related challenges.

Mr. Vijayanand thanked the Union Ministries of Power, New and Renewable Energy and Housing and Urban Affairs for their support in advancing energy efficiency and economic sustainability through EESL and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency.
