One dead, seven injured in wasp attack at Lindula tea estate

Tragedy struck a tea plantation in the central highlands when a swarm of aggressive wasps attacked a group of field workers at the Lindula Waltrim Estate, resulting in one fatality.

Seven other tea pluckers who sustained multiple stings were evacuated by estate management and co-workers to the nearest district hospital, where several were admitted for emergency treatment.

Plantation authorities confirmed that the incident took place while routine plucking operations were underway, prompting estate management to inspect the fields for any remaining undisturbed wasp nests to ensure worker safety.
