Officials Brief Public on Sri Lanka’s Upcoming Weather Conditions

A special media briefing on Sri Lanka’s upcoming weather conditions was held on October 22, 2026, at the auditorium of the Government Information Department.

The briefing brought together officials from the Department of Meteorology, the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) and the Disaster Management Centre to provide information on anticipated weather conditions and related concerns.

Those in attendance included Department of Meteorology Director of Forecasting Merill Mendis, Senior Geologist at the National Building Research Organisation Dr. Wasantha Senadhira, and Disaster Management Centre Director and Media Spokesperson Pradeep Kodippili.

The briefing was organised to inform the public about the expected weather situation, with the participation of officials responsible for weather forecasting, geological risk assessment and disaster management.
