No US pressure on Sri Lanka over Iranian vessels: Foreign Minister

Sri Lanka's Minister of Foreign Affairs has refuted media speculations suggesting that the United States government is applying diplomatic or economic pressure on Sri Lanka concerning Iranian vessels anchored near the nation's territorial boundaries.

Addressing the matter publicly, the Minister stated that Sri Lanka maintains independent foreign policy standards and engages with all international partners on equal footing. He emphasized that the government has not received ultimatums or coercive demands regarding the vessels, contrary to unverified domestic reports.

The Minister reiterated that any administrative or maritime actions taken by Sri Lankan authorities regarding foreign ships will strictly adhere to international maritime conventions, United Nations regulations, and domestic security interests.
