New Sanghawasa and Alms Hall at Gothatuwa Temple Opened in Ceremony

The first phase of the newly constructed Sanghawasa (residential quarters for Buddhist monks) and alms hall at the Gothatuwa Sri Gnana Vimalarama Temple was officially opened today.

The newly constructed building was inaugurated in the presence of members of the Maha Sangha and Diyawadana Nilame of the Sri Dalada Maligawa, Pradeep Nilanga Dela Bandara.

The ceremony was attended by the Maha Sangha representing all three Buddhist Nikayas, including Ven. Rathmalane Siri Sunitha Anunayake Thero.

The project was organised under the guidance of Ven. Maharagama Dhammadassi Thero, Chief Incumbent of the Mahara Dhammadasi Temple, with the coordination and leadership of Ven. Morahe ne Indarathana Thero, the Viharadhikari of Gothatuwa Sri Gnana Vimalarama Temple.

Addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest, Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela Bandara stated that temples and places of Buddhist worship continued to be constructed in Sri Lanka even today.

He noted that ancient kings had made significant contributions to protecting and nurturing Buddhism through the construction of temples and sacred places.

He further described Sri Lanka as a country of religious significance and dignity, expressing happiness that the needs of Buddhism continued to be fulfilled through the establishment of religious institutions.

Ven. Rathmalane Siri Sunitha Anunayake Thero also delivered a sermon during the ceremony.
