· Australia
An 81‑year‑old man has been allegedly assaulted while waiting at a bus stop outside a busy Adelaide hospital. As suspect is in custody but police are appealing for witnesses as they try to piece together what happened. Police allege the elderly man, from Kingswood in Adelaide’s inner south, was sitting at the Zone A stop on Flinders Dr, outside Flinders Medical Centre, about 3.55pm on Wednesday when he was approached by a man he did not recognise.
The younger man allegedly assaulted the 81-year-old, who suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital. A 39‑year‑old man from Mitchell Park, in the city’s south, was arrested soon after and is undergoing a medical assessment. Police who are appealing for witnesses say the suspect was wearing a grey top and black jacket. Officers urge anyone who saw the alleged assault or captured it on dashcam to contact police.
