Kusal Mendis to lead Sri Lanka in England white-ball tour

Sri Lanka Cricket has named 16-member ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming white-ball tour of England, with Kusal Mendis appointed captain in both formats.

Charith Asalanka has been named vice-captain of both teams, while former captain Dasun Shanaka has earned a recall to the ODI squad. Shanaka will also retain his place in the T20I side as Sri Lanka continue preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Lahiru Udara and Tharindu Rathnayake have been included in the T20I squad, while Pavan Rathnayake, Sachindu Colombage, Asitha Fernando and Dilshan Madushanka have been selected only for the ODI series.

Pathum Nissanka, Kamil Mishara, Kamindu Mendis, Janith Liyanage, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dunith Wellalage, Maheesh Theekshana, Dushmantha Chameera and Eshan Malinga will feature in both formats.

Sri Lanka are scheduled to leave for England on September 5 and will play three T20Is followed by three ODIs.

The T20I series begins in Southampton on September 15, with the second match in Cardiff on September 17 and the final game in Manchester on September 19.

The ODI series will begin in Durham on September 22, followed by matches in Leeds on September 24 and London on September 27.

The ODI squad: Pathum Nissanka, Kamil Mishara, Kamindu Mendis, Charith Asalanka, Kusal Mendis, Janith Liyanage, Pavan Rathnayake, Dasun Shanaka, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dunith Wellalage, Maheesh Theekshana, Sachindu Colombage, Dushmantha Chameera, Eshan Malinga, Asitha Fernando and Dilshan Madushanka.
