Journalist Kalum Amarasinghe Files Fresh Complaint Over Alleged Vehicle Use by Excise Chief
· Sri Lanka
Amarasinghe said the allegation had been circulating online, claiming that the vehicle was being used in connection with tax concessions allegedly granted to an excise duty-paying business.
He stated that he had previously submitted a written complaint to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) regarding the matter.
However, Amarasinghe said the complaint had not been addressed promptly. Citing remarks by Rangana Dissanayake regarding the delay, he said he had decided to bring the matter before the Colombo Central Criminal Investigation Division as well.
Amarasinghe said his actions were intended to promote a culture of good governance in Sri Lanka.
The allegations have not been independently verified. The filing of a complaint does not establish wrongdoing, and the response of the Department of Excise was not included in the information provided.
