Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath to lead Sri Lanka delegation to UN General Assembly

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, will lead the Sri Lanka delegation to the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, scheduled from September 27 to September 30, 2026.

During the high-level general debate and associated ministerial meetings, the Sri Lankan delegation will present the nation's foreign policy priorities, economic recovery trajectory, and commitments to climate action and global peace. Minister Herath is also scheduled to hold a series of bilateral discussions with foreign counterparts, UN agency executives, and international development partners.

The visit provides an opportunity to advance Sri Lanka's diplomatic engagements, strengthen bilateral trade and tourism linkages, and discuss labor migration frameworks with key international partners.
