Sri Lankan Professional Dhananjaya Abesinghe Wins Two Global Awards for Leadership in Sustainability and Facility Management

Sri Lankan professional Dhananjaya Abesinghe has earned two prestigious international accolades recognising his leadership in facility management and corporate sustainability, further highlighting the growing global impact of Sri Lankan professionals.

Based in Dubai and representing Lenovo Middle East, Turkey & Africa, Abesinghe has built a career focused on combining operational excellence with environmental responsibility and sustainable workplace practices.

Among his latest achievements is the IFMA George Graves Award for Facility Management Achievement 2025, presented by the US-based International Facility Management Association (IFMA). The award recognises individuals who have made significant contributions to advancing the global facility management profession.

Abesinghe made history by becoming the first non-US citizen to receive the prestigious award, joining a distinguished list of previous recipients associated with major organisations including Google, NASA and IBM.

He has also been named Middle East Sustainability Champion of the Year 2026 at the Middle East Awards, held at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel in Dubai. The award recognises his contributions to sustainable workplace operations following competition from thousands of nominees across the region.

Abesinghe’s work focuses on practical and measurable sustainability solutions, including resource efficiency, circular economy practices, workplace asset refurbishment, waste reduction, net-zero initiatives and energy-efficient workplace innovations.

Beyond his corporate responsibilities, he also contributes to the professional community as a Board Director of IFMA’s UAE Chapter, supporting knowledge sharing, professional development and the advancement of sustainable facility management practices across the region.

His back-to-back international recognitions underline the growing importance of sustainability in modern business operations while showcasing the contribution of Sri Lankan talent to global workplace transformation.
