Complaint Filed with Bribery Commission Over Sri Lanka Police Footwear Procurement Tender
· Sri Lanka
The Civil Intelligence Front has lodged a complaint with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) over a Sri Lanka Police tender relating to the procurement of footwear.
The group alleges that irregularities may have occurred in the tender process for the purchase of police boots and has called on the authorities to investigate the matter.
Representatives of the Civil Intelligence Front said the complaint was submitted jointly with the United Opposition. They stressed that they would expose wrongdoing regardless of whether it involved the government or its representatives.
The complaint was reportedly made against Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasooriya.
The group also questioned the decision to purchase the footwear despite the availability of internationally recognised brands, alleging that the procurement decision raised concerns.
Following the submission of the complaint, Civil Intelligence Front representatives Sanjaya Mahawatta and Priyantha Thilakaratne addressed the media and outlined their concerns.
