Complaint Filed with Bribery Commission Over Alleged Vehicle Use by Excise Commissioner’s Son
· Sri Lanka
Social activist Kalum Amarasinghe today lodged a complaint with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) concerning the current Excise Commissioner General.
According to the complaint, the son of the incumbent Excise Commissioner General is allegedly using a vehicle obtained from a private liquor manufacturing company.
Amarasinghe called for the matter to be investigated and urged the authorities to ensure that complaints are examined impartially and without political or other bias.
He also alleged that although the Government has stated that the law would be applied equally to everyone, complaints made against the Government are not being properly investigated.
He called on the relevant authorities to examine all complaints equally and without favouritism in the interest of justice and fairness.
