Children’s home warden and husband arrested over alleged torture of minor

Thalathuoya Police have arrested the female warden of a Children’s Home and her husband in connection with the alleged torture of a 16-year-old boy accommodated at the institution in the Mailapitiya area of Kandy.

According to police, the boy was allegedly subjected to severe physical abuse, including the application of chili powder to his genital area.

The victim was initially admitted to the Marassana Hospital and was later transferred to the Kandy National Hospital for further medical treatment.

The suspects were produced before the Kandy Magistrate’s Court and were remanded until September 7.

Thalathuoya Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
