Rain Sends Four Teams into Asian Games Semis

Persistent rain in Nagoya, Japan, resulted in all four men's cricket quarter-final matches at the Asian Games being abandoned, creating a rare scenario in which every semi-finalist was decided without a ball being bowled.

With weather making play impossible, tournament regulations came into effect, allowing the higher-ranked teams to progress to the semi-finals based on their rankings.

Pakistan advanced after their quarter-final against Hong Kong was abandoned, while India progressed following the washout of their clash against Afghanistan. Sri Lanka also booked a place in the last four after rain forced the abandonment of its quarter-final against Nepal, while Bangladesh advanced after its match against Malaysia suffered the same fate.

The results mean that Sri Lanka will meet India in one semi-final, while Bangladesh will take on Pakistan in the other.

The Asian Games are currently being held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, where heavy rainfall has disrupted several sporting events over recent days.
