Adverse weather affects 41 divisional secretariat divisions across 10 districts

Prevailing adverse weather conditions characterized by torrential rainfall and gusty winds have severely affected residents across 41 Divisional Secretariat divisions spanning 10 administrative districts in Sri Lanka.

Inundations and localized flooding have disrupted road transport and damaged residential structures as well as agricultural lands in low-lying zones. Several river basins have seen rising water levels, prompting authorities to issue flood advisories to downstream settlements.

The Disaster Management Centre (DMC), in coordination with district secretariats and armed forces personnel, has deployed relief teams to provide emergency supplies, drinking water, and dry rations. Residents living in landslide-prone hilly areas have been instructed to remain vigilant and comply with evacuation notices.
