ACMC appeals to Saudi King for pardon for Sri Lankan facing death penalty

The All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC) has formally submitted a petition addressed to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, appealing for a royal pardon for Sivarasa Anojan, who faces execution in the kingdom.

The ACMC highlighted the modest background of Anojan's family in Sri Lanka and invoked principles of mercy and reconciliation, requesting the monarch to commute the death sentence on humanitarian grounds.

Party leaders noted that civil society and political factions across Sri Lanka are united in their appeal for compassion, expressing hope that friendly bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia will facilitate a favorable review of the plea.
