57-year-old RMP doctor arrested for allegedly raping 12-year-old girl

An RMP doctor, aged about 57 years, was arrested for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl near Avanigadda in Krishna district. The girl subsequently delivered a baby boy at a private hospital in Repalle in Bapatla district.

“Based on the information provided by the hospital staff, the Avanigadda police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, and other provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the accused,” Avanigadda Circle Inspector G. Yuva Kumar told The Hindu on Sunday.

Both the girl and her baby are safe, the CI said, adding that the accused had been arrested and would be produced before a court.

“We are collecting information about the victim’s health condition, the school and class she was studying in, the hospital where she received treatment and other details,” an officer of the Women Development and Child Welfare Department said.
