Fire erupts at Embilipitiya Paper Mill premises

A fire broke out at a storage facility containing scrap materials at the Embilipitiya Paper Mill this afternoon (30).

The blaze erupted at around 3.20 p.m. in an area where scrap materials brought into the paper mill were being stored.

Firefighting teams from the paper mill, along with personnel from the Sri Lanka Army, Police, Embilipitiya Urban Council and the Sevanagala Sugar Factory, responded to the incident.

The joint operation successfully brought the fire under control, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the premises.The cause of the fire has not yet been established.

Authorities are conducting further investigations into the incident.
