· Sri Lanka
A special World Children’s Day celebration was held today (1) at the Senehasa Education Resource Research and Information Centre in Manning Town, Narahenpita, under the patronage of the Commander of the Army and the Chairperson of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit, in conjunction with the 77th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army.
The Sri Lanka Army will celebrate its 77th anniversary on October 10, 2026, and the Children’s Day programme was organised as part of a series of events held in conjunction with the anniversary.
The programme was held under the leadership of Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Nilantha Premarathna and members of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit. A range of activities and special programmes were organised for the children.
The programme aimed to promote children’s happiness and creativity, encourage a positive outlook towards their future, and foster closer and more caring relationships with children, including those from Army families.
A special concert featuring performances and singing by children with developmental disabilities was also held as part of the programme.
As the Sri Lanka Army marks its 77th anniversary and continues its service to the country, it is also conducting welfare and social service programmes for various sections of society.
Accordingly, the World Children’s Day programme held today was another initiative conducted as part of these social responsibility and welfare programmes.
