Woman arrested with over 500g of 'Ice' in Kotahena

A female suspect was apprehended by police officers during an anti-narcotics raid conducted in the Madampitiya area of Kotahena. Acting on actionable intelligence regarding illicit drug distribution in the locality, law enforcement personnel intercepted the woman and discovered a substantial quantity of narcotics in her possession.

According to police sources, investigators recovered over 500 grams of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as 'Ice', during the search. The street value of the confiscated contraband is estimated to be significant, highlighting the persistent challenge of synthetic drug trafficking in urban neighborhoods of Colombo.

The suspect has been detained for further questioning as officers work to determine the origin of the narcotics and identify potential accomplices or distribution rings operating within the Western Province. Police reiterated their commitment to intensifying operations aimed at curbing the illegal drug trade across the island.

The arrested individual is scheduled to be produced before the relevant Magistrate's Court, while Kotahena Police continue extended investigations under the provisions of the Poisons, Opium, and Dangerous Drugs Ordinance.
