Wife of restaurant owner gunned down in Kalutara succumbs to injuries

The wife of a restaurant owner who was targeted in a shooting incident in the Nagoda area of Kalutara has succumbed to her critical gunshot injuries while receiving intensive medical care in hospital. The shooting occurred during broad daylight at the couple's dining establishment.

The attack had critically wounded both the proprietor and his spouse, prompting an island-wide manhunt for the perpetrators. Special police investigation teams managed to locate and arrest the suspected gunman along with illicit narcotics shortly after the incident.

Police investigators believe the shooting was tied to organized criminal disputes or extortion attempts in the Western Province. Further investigations are underway to uncover accomplices and recover the firearm used in the fatal shooting.
