Sarath Prematilaka’s book on the Cricket World Cup launched

Not Out – ICC Cricket World Cup Untold Stories, a book authored by veteran sports journalist Sarath Prematilaka, was launched this afternoon at the Mahaweli Centre in Green Path, Colombo.

Former Sri Lanka cricket captain Arjuna Ranatunga, who led Sri Lanka to its historic 1996 World Cup triumph, attended the event as the chief guest. Former Sri Lankan cricketer Ravindra Pushpakumara was also present, along with a large number of individuals associated with cricket and journalism.

The book was presented to Arjuna Ranatunga.

The book, Not Out – ICC Cricket World Cup Untold Stories, contains a wealth of rare and previously undisclosed information about the Cricket World Cups held since 1975. It also features interviews with veteran cricketers and cricket legends from around the world.

Sarath Prematilaka is one of Sri Lanka’s most senior sports writers and has been involved in sports journalism for more than five decades.

He has also served as the editor of the sports newspaper and magazine published by Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited (ANCL).

The book features rare details from the history of the Cricket World Cup, lesser-known incidents, and the experiences of prominent figures in the cricketing world.

Addressing the gathering, Arjuna Ranatunga spoke about the current state of cricket and the factors that have contributed to the situation. He also said that, unlike sports commentators of the past, some of the sports commentators today have been influenced by money from the cricket governing body.
