We Are Trying to Send More Athletes, but Administration Wants to Send Fewer – Sports Minister

Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage said efforts are being made to send a larger number of athletes to the Asian Games, while the administration is seeking to send a smaller contingent.

He also said that although some people criticise the minister when visas are not granted, the minister is not the person responsible for issuing visas.

“If an athlete is unable to participate in the Asian Games, they will have to wait another four years for the next opportunity. By then, their sporting career could be over,” the minister said.
