Arrest Warrant Issued for Aravinda de Silva

The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today (16) issued warrants for the arrest of former Sri Lankan cricketer Aravinda de Silva and his wife, Priyanga Anushka Wijenayake, after they failed to appear before court.

The couple had reportedly stood as sureties for the wife of former SriLankan Airlines Chief Executive Officer Kapila Chandrasena in an ongoing case.

Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasinghe issued the warrants due to their failure to appear when the case was taken up.

However, reports said De Silva had been unable to attend the proceedings following the death of his mother, Rani de Silva, on 14 September. Her funeral and cremation were scheduled to take place today.
